Central Coordination Variations
Central coordination can take many forms:
- A single service or web app, obviously centralized
- A federated protocol with a consistent API, which is just multiple centralized services that connect together
- A blockchain of some sort, which is a single centralized chain. Everyone can read and write to it (given currency) and no one directly controls it, but it's still centralized.
- A p2p-like tracker or DHT, which are centralized in the same way federated servers are.
Obviously at some level, centralization must occur, but we should strive to push that to as low of a level as possible to increase network resilience.
